Or – you can do it my way:
Take a ruler or other long strong flat device (not a knife!).
Finding the perpendicular horizontal of the mid-height of the door to the lock position – from the side – slide the ruler under the side of the door until it stops against the lock – now push gently in the same direction horizontally towards the centre of the door – CLICK!! Door springs open.
Reason for the problem – the door release catch inside the door is old and worn out and needs replacing – be careful not to drop the door glass viewing panel in the processes.
Or the electro-mechanical inter-lock inside the machine may need replacing (least likely).
